Have you ever observed the sexual reproduction of Cymbella cistula?
In the first video on the left, Cymbella cistula were recorded in a culture where sexual reproduction is occurring.
The first part of the second video shows a time lapse video (9000x time lapse) of the growth of two auxospores. After the short dark break you can see how the new diatoms escape from a copulation envelope in a short time interval (90x time lapse).
